MojoHost takes reports of network abuse very seriously. If you believe you have identified any illegal activity on our network we ask that you please follow the proper procedure for reporting it, found at the bottom of this page. Complaints are handled in the order in which they are received and are guaranteed a personal response from our network security staff within 24 hours.

Please understand that while we make it our business to know our clients activities, it is impossible for us to speculate on and prevent all wrongdoing before it takes place. We have a zero tolerance policy for unsolicited email, commonly referred to as spam. This means that we do not permit such email to be sent from our network using any means. This also means that we do not permit any web sites that reside on our network to be promoted in unsolicited email. Complaints about unsolicited email are always fully investigated and dealt with swiftly.

Unfortunately, parties that earn a living by sending out unsolicited email are professional liars. Their job is to have a multitude of business and personal identities so that they can move from one network to the next, indefinitely. No host is immune to these types of tactics, although fortunately this activity usually does not take long to uncover and stop.

Unsolicited email is now often used as a weapon to destroy online businesses. With sophisticated technology, professional spammers can "spoof" their unsolicited email to make it look like it originated from some place it did not. So, before you go nuts reporting a spam to us as a provider or the beneficiary of the spam such as the promoted web site, realize that the root of this might be a malicious attempt to harm the host or e-commerce web site in question. In a practical sense, this means that if a professional spammer wanted to attempt to cause financial or legal harm to a legitimate web site all they would have to do is send out a few million (or more) fake emails that look like they originated from the retailer when in fact they did not.

As abuse can take many forms, we ask for your understanding and trust when we investigate such matters. Our livelihood as a web site host relies on our ability to purchase large amounts of bandwidth from Tier One bandwidth suppliers, the companies that run fiber around the world. If we made a practice of allowing illegal activity to flourish on our network there would not be a single supplier that would provide us with bandwidth and that would effectively put us out of business. So, for the zealots that presume that hosts are guilty when they find a spam originating or landing on a specified network, please realize that this is fundamentally unlikely as allowing such activity would be the quickest way to be put completely out of business.

Different types of abuse that you may report:

  • Unsolicited email that did originate or appeared to originate from our network.
  • Unsolicited email that appears to directly or indirectly promote a site hosted on our network.
  • A server located on our network that appears to be "port scanning" computers or IP addresses outside of our network.
  • A server on our network which might be compromised with a virus or by a hacker resulting in some type of outbound abuse originating from the compromised server such as a Denial Of Service attack.
  • Any material hosted on our network, without permission, which is copyrighted such as images, music, software, movies or any other type of media.
  • Illegal content such as photos that are described as or appear to be under the legal age of consent which is commonly accepted as 18 years old. Bestiality, rape and other extreme forms of pornography are prohibited on our network as dictated by local or superceding federal laws. In the absence of such laws, we reserve the right to refuse hosting any client or content at our discretion.
  • Domain names, web site text or any other material which infringes on a United States patent or trademark is a prohibited activity.
